A large multi-business conglomerate needed to migrate 150+ applications — many legacy — on an accelerated timeline with virtually no DevSecOps foundation. BootLabs delivered both.
The challenge was not just technical — it was organisational. 150+ applications spanning legacy monoliths, microservices, databases, and multi-tier systems, each owned by a different team, each with its own release process. The mandate: migrate all of them to cloud within 12 months, without disrupting business operations. Adding to the complexity: there was no DevSecOps foundation in place. Applications were deployed manually. There were no automated pipelines, no secrets management, no security scanning in the delivery process. The migration had to happen while simultaneously building the DevSecOps practices that would make it sustainable.
150+ applications across legacy monoliths, microservices, and multi-tier stacks, spread across different teams with different tooling — all on an accelerated, minimum-risk timeline.
Limited pipeline automation, no secrets management, no automated security scanning. Applications needed to be made cloud-ready while the migration was in progress.
Database migrations required zero downtime. End-to-end observability — monitoring, logging, alerting — needed to be in place from the moment each workload went live.
Assessed every application and defined a modernisation path: containerise, re-platform, or refactor. Built parallel workstreams so 20+ applications could migrate simultaneously without cross-team dependency.
Inducted DevSecOps across the organisation: SAST/DAST scanning in CI/CD, secrets management via vault, templatised rollback strategies, and container security policies standardised across all teams.
Deployed to Kubernetes with automated containerised pipelines, GitOps workflows, and Helm-managed rollout strategies — ensuring repeatability and auditability at every step.
Deployed full-stack observability (metrics, logs, distributed traces, alerting) to every migrated workload before go-live, not after. Operations team had visibility from minute one.
Every application migrated on schedule. Zero rollbacks across the entire 12-month programme — an extraordinary outcome for an initiative of this scale and complexity. The DevSecOps practice that was built to enable the migration matured and scaled to cover the entire engineering organisation, permanently changing how teams develop and ship software.
Not a single business service was disrupted during the migration. Customers noticed nothing.
The practices built for the migration became the organisation's standard — adopted by teams beyond the original scope.
Every migrated workload has complete visibility from day one. Incidents are caught by engineers, not customers.
With infrastructure overhead removed, engineering teams reinvested their time in product features — 50% faster innovation measured within 6 months.
I want to thank the BootLabs team for working with us during the migration process. The team was always available and helped us resolve any questions we had. Some of the demos created by the team were instrumental for us to go live faster. Really happy with the ongoing support.
Tell us about your challenge and we'll set up a focused 30-minute session.
